Holy city Prayagraj Allahabad

Basic Introduction of Prayagraj:-
First of all, I would like to let you know about the holy city of Allahabad/Prayagraj. It’s one of the oldest town of northern India which presently situated in Uttar Pradesh.

As we go dating back towards in ancient “Vedas” and “Puranas” era’s we came to know about the roots of holy city Sangam, or Allahabad or Prayagraj.According to Hindu mythology the City has a strong bonding with History and the destiny.

Prayagraj(Allahabad)city was located at the confluence of the Holy n most revered River of India Ganga,
“The Yamuna”, and “Saraswati”.

From the ancient times, it was known as one of the oldest pilgrimage centres in India. during ancient times it was called as “Teertharaj Prayag”

The holy city prayagraj attracts huge congregations at the time of Kumbh,Ardh Kumbh festival( mela)which will be held after the cycle of 12years and 6years respectively.
Millions of pilgrimage of Hindu community will visit holy city prayagraj on occasion of Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh festival………

Even In ancient times Chinese traveller huen tsang, and fa hein both had visited the holy city Prayagraj in 5th and 7century A.D respectively.

Because of its geographical locality and strategic importance Mughal Emperor Akbar badshaha had built a magnificent fort on the banks of Prayagraj Sangam.and he had renamed the city as Allahabad(City of God)in year 1575A.D

Top tourist attractions Prayagraj:-

1.Sangam:-
It’s one of the famous spots at prayagraj.actually its confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Hindu mythological river Saraswati river. this place attracts millions of tourist, devotees from across India and around the globe too……
This place offers a fascinating and spectacular view of a beautiful sunrise and sunset.many tourist prefer to visit the place at the morning to see the sunrise and take a holy deep in Ganga and at the evening time to watch the lighting view of the sky and shining city, and colourful waters.

2.Bade Hanuman Mandir:-
It is an ancient Unique temple which is situated close to the(Allahabad)
Prayagraj Fort. It is the only Hanuman temple in India, in which Hanuman is in a reclining posture.

Although, It is a comparatively small temple. but It was visited by hundreds of devotees every day. It is popularly said that every year during the monsoon season the Ganga rises to touch the feet of lord hanuman before receding…………….

3.Allahabad Prayagraj Fort:-
It was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in the year 1583 A.D, The fort situated on the confluence of Sangam. In his prime time, the fort was unrivalled for its unique spectacular design and finest architecture. This majestic fort has three magnificent galleries which are flanked by the high towers………….

4.Allahabad Prayagraj museum:-
It was located at Kamla Nehru Road inside the Chandra Shekhar Azad Park. It has 18 galleries containing a wide range of stone sculptures which includes 2nd century B.C pieces from Bharat &kaushambi 1st-century carvings collected from the famous Khajuraho temple.

Museum also exhibits multiple varieties of terracotta figurines from kaushambi Rajsthani miniatures, coins, and paintings, by Nicholas Roerich, and arts donated by Nehru family. Timings to visit the museum is from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm, except Monday.

5.Chandra Shekhar Azad Park:-
“Land of martyrdom”It was earlier known as Alfred park.it has an extensive garden with some fine Colonial buildings. Including the public library later the park was renamed in the honour if Chandra Shekhar Azad who martyred in this park against fighting colonial British government. the famous Allahabad museum is situated within the park.

6.Jawahar planetarium:-

Because of the interest of first prime min our country Hon’ble Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in science and technology. A small planetarium was constructed in the promise of Anand Bhawan in the year 1930. It has a seating capacity of 80 persons in one show.

Every day the undertaking administration conducts Five shows on based on popular topics in astronomy. Timing to attend this scientific showtime is 9.30 am to 5.30 pm except for Monday.

7.Anand Bhawan:-

It is very popularly known as “Abode of Happiness” It was constructed by the first prime minister of India Hon’ble Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year of 1927. During the freedom struggle movements it’s transformed into Hub of political activities, and symbol of sacrifice and nations services to the nation.

Anand Bhawan was donated to the nation by the First women prime minister of India and daughter of Pandit Nehru Hon’ble Smt.late Indira Gandhi in the year 1970.
Later Anand Bhawan was transformed into Historical museum. which exhibits the two storyed building which is seen through the glass panels…………..
This museum conserved the personal belongings of Pandit Motilal Nehru, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.Smt Indira Gandhi, and their son’s Sanjay and Rajeev Gandhi.

8.Swaraj Bhawan:-
Actually, It was a home of Pandit Motilal Nehru, a freedom fighter and father of first prime minister of India,Hon’ble late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

He had donated this historical building to Nation in the year 1930 A.D.Later It was used as national congress committee Headquarters as per the wish of Pandit Motilal Nehru.

First women prime minister of India and Third prime minister of India And the daughter of First prime minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,Hon’ble late Smt.India Gandhi was born at Swaraj Bhawan.

Actually, the building of Swaraj Bhawan was constructed in the year 1864, and later In the year 1899, It was purchased by the Pandit Motilal Nehru. Now Swaraj Bhawan Was transformed into a historical museum. This museum preserved the personnel belongings and related things of Pandit Motilal Nehru, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, daughter smt Indira Gandhi, and their son Sanjay and Rajeev Gandhi respectively.

Official Time to visit the Swaraj Bhawan museum#:-
9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
It remained closed on Monday.

9 All Saints Cathedral:-
Cathedral was one of the amazing, unique architectural cathedral building of india.which was designed by a British engineer named Sir Williams emergency, more than a century of years ago.

The architectural structure of this cathedral was decorated with some literally exceptional glasses, murals, and colourful marble altar, the Sir William emergen had designed the cathedral of All saints at Allahabad in the year 1850.

It was consecrated only in the year 1887 A.D the church which had been described as an excellent and most iconic Anglican cathedral in all over Asia. From the front side, it faced in white stone from surajpur with red stone dressings. this cathedral of All saints was dedicated to the people of all ages and places.

10.Khusru Bagh:-
Kshru bagh was situated near the vicinity of Allahabad Junction railway station. It has a huge beautiful garden.at where the tomb of the Khusru along with his sisters and mothers are located.

Khusru was the son of the emperor (Jahangir) who had been made many unsuccessful attempts to assassinates his father Emperor Jahangir. However, Khusru was murdered by his own brother Shahjahan.in the end typical Mughal garden-style enclosures. It entered through an 18 m high archway. Nearby is the tomb believed that his sisters and mother. There was a two-storied building of the tomb was of his mother…
